When I began creating this work, the world—and life as we knew it—was rapidly changing due to the pandemic. As the world seemingly shifted around me, along with the many personal challenges that come with aging, I felt compelled to explore new areas of artistic expression to satisfy my creative spirit.

Throughout my career as an artist I have explored a wide variety of mediums and have created a diverse body of work. As a result, it was a seamless transition to these smaller scale works using digital photography.

As I was focused on home life during the pandemic I turned to my personal space and my much loved Japanese inspired garden. Here, in this peaceful sanctuary of nature, my imagination and creative inspiration soared, leaving behind the chaos in the world around me and providing me the mental space to explore new areas of expression.

Although I have worked with photography before, creating art digitally was new to me. Being able to manipulate my photographs on the screen before me, examining all manner of options, I not only found stimulating but instantly rewarding. There are many influences and opportunities in the digital world that I find compelling. I am excited to explore and utilize them to express my creativity going forward.
